Second Annual Fish Fry the Best Ever |
Posted on 06/16/2008 |
The Second Annual VAC Fish Fry, held at the Maymont Nature Center on May 27, 2008 was a great success and featured the best ever cooking by the gourmet cooking team of VAC members Buddy and Danny Noland, Jeff Doughty and Dean Winstead. A wide selection of member-donated fish was fried to perfection, the team’s famous hush puppies sold out quickly and Jeff’s special pasta salad was a treat to the taste buds. Forty-two members and their guests had a wonderful evening together. The newly appointed Executive Director of the DGIF, Bob Duncan, gave a nice presentation that chronicled is view of what the DGIF should be and do to properly serve its constituency. He shared with us his career path to his present position. Chuck Frederickson, the James Riverkeeper, shared his thoughts and duties in carrying out his work for the betterment of the James River. Program Vice Chairman Mike Ostrander and other members of the Leadership Team would like to hear ideas that will make the Third Annual VAC Fish Fry even a greater success. Mike and the Board are working hard to make the Fish Fry the best, non mandated, social gathering of the year for the Club. The night under the tent was most enjoyable and we were well protected from a passing rain storm.
