Caught a Lion Fish?

LionfishNative to Indo-Pacific waters, Lionfish are now being reported in the waters along the East Coast of the United States. Lionfish have venomous spines that can potentially harm humans if envenomated (stung). Also, since they are not native to our waters they may have a negative impact on local fish populations. Read this flyer for more information and the precautions you should use if you encounter a lionfish! Should you catch a lionfish you are asked to put it on ice and report the catch to NOAA. Report your catch to NOAA using an by emailing to reportlionfish@noaa.gov or calling (252)728-8714 or using their online form.
